There’s no denying that car repairs and maintenance are getting more expensive. Owning a car is also undeniably financially burdensome with the rising price of gas, repairs, replacement parts, and labor costs. These have made it difficult for many people to maintain their vehicles regularly, and this trend won’t change anytime soon.
Mechanics are making things worse
Most Americans rely on traditional mechanics and auto repair shops to keep their vehicles running smoothly. However, many people believe that mechanics frequently overcharge and do not always have the public’s best interests at heart.
That’s the claim made by Daniel Nieh, founder and CEO of SPARQ, a Boston-based auto repair subscription service that covers everything from maintenance and auto-body to repairs without labor fees, surprise costs, or hidden charges.
“The truth is that most mechanics are ripping people off. They charge for things they don’t have to, and they aren’t always honest about what’s wrong with your car,” Daniel explains.
Automobile repair shops have a reputation for overcharging their clients. A typical national markup for parts is 80%, and another 80% is added for labor. SPARQ’s global plan is to stop the current auto service industry’s fraudulent manipulation within the next five years.
The future of auto repair is subscription-based
When car owners join SPARQ’s auto repair membership, they get access to a nationwide network of repair shops, free labor services 365 days a year, and big discounts on OEM parts. Vehicle maintenance costs will be reduced by as much as 58% for members just within their first year of joining.
SPARQ’s modern proprietary technology integrations allow them to work on cars five times faster than other repair shops. With SPARQ’s integrated technology, a full service that would usually take more than five hours can be done in an hour. By using SPARQ’s predictive algorithms to learn about the vehicle’s behavior, it is also possible to anticipate when it is necessary to bring cars in for maintenance. Customers won’t have to wait for complete auto repairs for hours or even days.
“Our aim is to make servicing your car as easy as getting a cup of coffee,” says Daniel. “All car owners really want is a mechanic they can rely on wherever they go, and SPARQ provides that.”
Daniel and his team are also set to establish and operate their own network of repair shops called SPARQ Labs in major cities. Their goal is to redesign people’s perception of traditional mechanic shops with modern designs. Furthermore, with the SPARQ app and with the combination of an OBD-II diagnostic device they give out for free to its members., owners can always track their vehicle’s condition.
SPARQ is certified by most major manufacturers to service their vehicles with OEM (original equipment manufacturer) parts and technicians who have been trained and certified. SPARQ also provides warranties on all services.
In addition, the company gives its members free safety checks, emission tests, and other inspections that their states require.
Early adopters get exclusive perks
“Honesty is highly valued by the public. Our company is designed for those who dislike unknowns. Consumers appreciate knowing how much money they will need to put into maintaining their vehicles over the next few years. SPARQ enables them to make future plans,” Daniel adds.
The first 6,000 users who will sign up for an annual plan can get a year of free maintenance and additional member benefits for just $1500. Members get an inspection once a year, a car wash, and free diagnostics at any SPARQ Lab.
Daniel hopes to have SPARQ Labs in every U.S. city by 2025. As the company grows, customers will get more benefits, making it easier and more cost efficiently to get their cars fixed .
